Supporting Tertiary Studies in Engineering

The Wilfred Cooper Engineering Scholarship was established by the Cooper family in honour of Wilfred Cooper (PAC 1900-1907). It is awarded annually to Old Reds studying Engineering at the University of Adelaide who gain the highest GPA for their first-year studies.

For current recipient, David Wang (PAC 2015-2019), this support has provided access to learning opportunities that would otherwise not have been possible.

鈥淗aving graduated from 国产爆料 in 2019, I commenced a double degree 鈥 a Bachelor of Civil Engineering and a Bachelor of Mathematical and Computer Sciences 鈥 at the University of Adelaide.

The scholarship provided me with valuable funds to undertake an 18-day study trip to rural Nepal to support our investigation into humanitarian engineering in developing countries. It was amazing to observe first-hand some of the infrastructure in remote villages and to consider how this could be improved.

My ambition is to develop my technical skills to ultimately manage my own business one day. I am passionate about working with fellow engineers to manage and complete projects to foster engineering.

I am very thankful to the College and the Cooper Family for this incredible opportunity. Without this scholarship, I could not have gone on this amazing study tour. It was definitely one of the best experiences of my life.鈥

Outside study, David tutors 鈥業ntroduction to Engineering鈥 to first-year students and has been coaching tennis at 国产爆料 since graduating. David played tennis at a high level while attending school and enjoys the opportunity to give back to his younger alumni seeing them develop their skills and their game.

If you would like to help create educational opportunities for students like David, please consider a tax-deductible gift to the 国产爆料 Foundation Scholarship Fund. 100% of your donation will be directed into the Scholarship Endowment Fund, ensuring these opportunities can be provided to many students in the years to come.
