Stage 1

Preparatory School Redevelopment

The completion of the Preparatory School redevelopment marks the first stage of a bold program of campus renewal.

The Preparatory School Campus redevelopment includes the construction of two new, linked buildings on the site of the previous Robertson Buildings. The first, built along the Dequetteville Tce frontage, houses our Reception to Year 3 students in a two-story building. The second, is a new building on the site opposite the Galatea Playground, to house the front office and administration, staff facilities, allied health and additional gathering and general learning areas. The upper levels seamlessly connect with the existing Robertson and Ningana buildings through a series of air bridges. The Robertson Building positioned along Little Flinders Street has been retained.

The Preparatory School campus redevelopment will ensure we are prepared to cater and adapt to the teaching and learning needs of future generations of students at ¹ú²ú±¬ÁÏ.

Preparatory School architects, Walter Brooke & Associates, intentional design approach

The team at Walter Brooke & Associates have worked closely with a broad cross-section of our community to determine the current and future needs of our Preparatory School.

A two-stage series of workshops held firstly with teachers and then with students, identified what features work well and where there are opportunities to develop our facilities to better cater for our teaching and learning needs. Further workshops with staff are guiding the selection of hard and soft classroom furnishings, wall coverings, storage solutions and active outdoor play spaces and equipment.

Meetings and workshops were also held with current Preparatory School parents, Old Scholars, and the College Council and Infrastructure Committee.

Walter Brooks’ ‘intentional design’ thinking encapsulates the fundamentals of the College including nurturing young men of character and purpose; bringing our community together; creating lasting connections; and designing spaces that are enduring.

These intentionally designed spaces that cater for the learning needs of young boys will ensure each boy is nurtured, and challenged, to reach his full potential.
